As a reminder, the Johnson Valley Shared Use Area will be temporarily closed to the public from October 30 to November 9, 2020 while the Marine Corps conducts critical military training in the area. The closure period includes the time required to conduct pre- and post-inspections of the area in coordination with the Bureau of Land Management.
The Johnson Valley Shared Use Area is also scheduled for closure on the following dates in 2021. Due to changes in training schedules, the below closure dates for fall 2021 reflect a slight adjustment and will occur two weeks earlier than previously announced.
30 April – 10 May 2021
15 Oct. – 1 Nov. 2021
The adjacent Johnson Valley Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Recreation Area, managed by the BLM, remains open to the public for recreation purposes and is unaffected by closures of the Johnson Valley Shared Use Area. Off-road enthusiasts may also enjoy the nearby Stoddard Valley OHV Area.
